Privacy Policy

My Meal Science ("we", "us") provides a personalised nutrition and meal-planning platform. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to mymealscience.com and our related tools.
We are not a healthcare provider. We do not diagnose, treat or manage medical conditions. See our Nutrition & Medical Disclaimer for more on this.
1. What we collect

Special category data
Some information you may choose to share — health context (e.g. a condition or life stage) and ethnic background — is "special category data" under UK/EU data protection law. You choose whether to share it, it is never required to use free tools, and our legal basis for processing it is your explicit consent, given when you submit the quiz. You can withdraw this at any time by deleting your account or removing the relevant answers.
2. How we use your information
- To create and personalise your meal plans, and to run our safety checks before generating one
- To let you sign in without a password, using a one-time emailed code
- To save your progress if you don't finish the quiz in one sitting
- To send you service emails (e.g. your sign-in code, your saved plan). We do not send marketing email unless you separately opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time
- To understand, in aggregate, which content and pathways are working, so we can improve the product
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to train third-party AI models.
3. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run My Meal Science. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account and profile data is stored here.
- Resend — sends your sign-in code and service emails. Receives your email address only.
- USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, Fruityvice — power our food-nutrition lookup tool. We send your search term (e.g. "banana"); we do not send any information that identifies you.
- Vercel — hosts the website itself.
We do not share your profile, health context or plans with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own marketing purposes.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in (an essential, strictly-necessary cookie set by our authentication provider). We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details, including what we store in your browser's local storage (e.g. to resume a quiz you didn't finish).
5. How long we keep your data
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, plans and quiz answers within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records for legal or accounting reasons.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights over your data:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for special category data (health context, ethnic background) at any time
- Object to or restrict certain processing
To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@mymealscience.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically one month under UK/EU GDPR).
7. International visitors
We welcome visitors from the UK, US, Canada and elsewhere. Where UK or EU data protection law applies to you, the rights in section 6 apply in full. Where other laws apply (for example US state privacy laws), we aim to offer the same level of control over your data regardless of where you live.
8. Children
My Meal Science is not directed at children. You must be 18 or over to create an account.

We'll update the date at the top of this page when we make changes, and post significant changes on this page.
